Our optical character recognition (OCR) engine runs locally using Tesseract WebAssembly. It isolates prices, item labels, sales tax lines, and subtotal figures directly from your phone camera photo, verifying total arithmetic before splitting.
2. Proportional Tax & Tip Division Algorithm
When dividing itemized receipts, each diner pays their exact dish cost plus a proportional ratio (R_i = S_i / TotalSubtotal) of state sales tax and server gratuity. No diner pays for another diner’s expensive cocktail or entree.
